Pueblo police are investigating a shooting that left one man dead and the other with serious injuries early Saturday morning.
Police say 38 year old Thomas Abeyta and a woman were outside the 7-Eleven on Northern Boulevard and East Orman Avenue shortly before 2 a.m. when the couple was approached by the woman's ex-boyfriend, 25 year old Matthew Aldaz. As the two men started to argue, police say Aldaz pulled out a gun and started shooting.
Aldaz allegedly shot Abeyta multiple times. Abeyta died at the scene. Aldaz then got into a vehicle and drove off.
Police say Aldaz was then involved in a single car accident around the 1100 block of E. Northern. He has been taken to the hospital with serious injuries after having been ejected from his vehicle in the crash.
