Fire At Springs Apartment Complex Third In Two Weeks

In less than two weeks, three small fires have forced residents of a Springs apartment complex out of their homes in the middle of the night.

The latest fire at the Sunset Creek Apartments on North Nevada started around 2 a.m. Saturday in a third-floor hallway. Police say a resident quickly extinguished it before it caused any serious damage.

One tenant had to be treated for smoke inhalation; no other injuries were reported.

The fire caused minimal damage, and did not displace any tenants. All residents were permitted to return to their homes within an hour.

Saturday's fire followed two other fires with a similar pattern: small fires, started in the middle of the night, all inside the building on the second or third floor.

On April 22, someone set fire to a storage room door around 3 a.m. The fire department responded.

A week before that, a resident tells us person took a trash can out of the laundry room, put it on the landing between the second and third floors and set it on fire.

11 News was told by that resident after the April 22 fire that management is looking into having cameras installed.

Police tell 11 News arson investigators are looking into Saturday's fire, but did not say if they have linked the three fires.
