A suspect is in critical condition after allegedly firing at a police officer, causing the officer to fire back.
Sister station KCNC says the officer hit the suspect three times.
The incident reportedly occurred around 6 a.m. after the officer pulled the suspect over for not having his headlights on. After the suspect pulled into a parking lot near Ken Pratt Boulevard in Longmont, police say he pulled out an AR-15 style rifle and shot at the officer multiple times.
The officer was not hurt, but is on administrative leave while the shooting is investigated.
