The 4th Judicial District Attorney's Office has finalized their investigation of an officer-involved shooting that took place on May 11 in Manitou Springs.

The DA's office says that the officer's use of force was "reasonable and justified."

Manitou Springs police said that Christopher Clemons, 37, was involved in an altercation with officers early on the morning of May 11 at the La Fon Motel while they were investigating a Crime Stoppers tip.

Clemons had a warrant for his arrest for a parole violation – escape. After being treated on scene, Clemons was taken to Penrose Main Hospital, where he was later medically cleared and then arrested for the warrant.

Other criminal charges including attempted first-degree murder of a peace officer have been filed against Clemons. He is currently in the custody of the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office and will appear in court on July 24 at 1:30 p.m.
