A highway patrol officer is being credited with saving a Chihuahua from heavy traffic.

Authorities in California say they received several calls about the tiny dog in traffic during rush hour.

The officer was finally able to coax the terrified dog to safety using a protein bar.

The dog was unharmed. There is no word on how the dog ended up in the road in the first place or who the owner is.
