DENVER (AP) -- Authorities say an off-duty police officer shot and killed a man suspected of robbing a bank in Denver.
Police say the suspect, whose name has not been released, was killed at a U.S. Bank branch on East Colfax Avenue on Saturday morning. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Passerby Jeff Leib tells The Denver Post he heard three shots and later saw paramedics wheel a person covered by a blanket out of the bank on a stretcher. Leib is a former Post writer.
Police Chief Robert White says the suspect pointed what appeared to be a gun at the officer after robbing the bank. No other details have been released.
