President Barack Obama is marking the 38th anniversary of the Supreme Court's landmark decision on abortion by calling the procedure a constitutional right he's committed to protecting.
Obama also said in a statement Saturday that he remains committed to policies designed to prevent unintended pregnancies. And he called on Americans to recommit themselves to ensuring that, in the president's words, "our daughters have the same rights, the same freedoms, and the same opportunities as our sons to fulfill their dreams."
Obama said the 1973 Roe v. Wade decision that legalized abortion affirmed what he called a "fundamental principle: that government should not intrude on private family matters."
Anti-abortion activists will participate in an annual "March for Life" in Washington on Monday

It is a woman's choice to decide whether or not she will have an abortion or not, just like it is a citizen's choice on whether or not they want to be an organ donor. The government will not have a say on how a woman should control her body and the government will not assume that everyone wants to be an organ donor. As it should be, so deal with it Colorado!
What happens between a woman and her Doctor is not the Governments business...as a matter of fact it's not anyone's business!
right on Mr. President! it is the woman's decision to have an abortion, period. who's to say that you have the right to make a decision for other people, period. this is a no-nonsense matter. the ones making all the fuss are the same people you hear about all the time. they had rather be in your business and making decisions for you than minding their own damm business. it's all about religion! religion is the biggest culprit in the world. i'am an ATHESIST. there is NO god! weak, weak, weak people.
