A local high school band instructor accused of having an inappropriate relationship with a student taught at three high schools.
David Hurd, 38, was a marching band choreographer at Air Academy and Liberty high schools in District 20 at the time of his arrest.
The arrest papers say Hurd was hired by at least three high schools in Colorado Springs and in Colorado, but the detective didn't specify what schools.
Former students say Hurd liked to be called "Dave" around Air Academy High School.
Court papers obtained by 11 News say Hurd and a student would text naked pictures to each other. Detectives also reportedly found conversations between the two talking about hugging and kissing in Hurd's car in the parking lot at the school.
11 News talked to one of Hurd's former students about the allegations.
“I was in disbelief. I've known Dave for about 10 years. For what I've known, he's a family man. He has a wife and kids. The dedication that he's given for the school and other schools - it was unreal."
The accuser says the two exchanged the words I love you. They also reportedly had a countdown going - stating they cannot wait to get together in 488 days when the victim would graduate from high school and be 18.
11 News also talked to the District 20 spokeswoman Tuesday night. She says an email went out to parents Monday informing them about the arrest.
Hurd was also involved in the Blue Knights drum corps that travels around the country.
Deputies say they are concerned there could be more victims. If you have any information, call the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office.
