Springs police credit quick-thinking neighbors for detaining a kidnapping suspect until officers could arrive on scene.

Authorities say that on Monday night, Antwon Yates, 29, forced his children's mother into his vehicle and drove her against her will to two different locations. During this time, police say Yates assaulted the victim.

After Yates drove to the first location and tried to contact an acquaintance, police say the victim tried to escape. Yates caught her and forced her back into the vehicle.

After driving to a second place, the victim escaped again. This time, police say witnesses held down the suspect, preventing him from catching her.

Police took Yates into custody. He faces several charges, including felony kidnapping and harrassment.

He is currently being held at the Criminal Justice Center in Colorado Springs on $10,000 bond.
