Twelve vehicles were involved in a major crash on northbound I-25 in Colorado Springs Friday morning.
The crash happened at the Cimarron on-ramp (exit 141) around 7:30 a.m., and is still blocking all northbound lanes at South Nevada (exit 140). Traffic cameras show that the interstate resembled a parking lot in places during the height of the crash, with all vehicles at a complete standstill.
One vehicle rolled, trapping the occupant inside. She did not suffer any injuries. Four people were taken to the hospital with minor-to-moderate injuries.
There is still no word on a cause, but a witness to the crash says a tarp flew off a truck carrying a load, and landed on the vehicle behind it, obstructing that driver's view. She says the vehicles then began piling up one right after another. This account has not been confirmed yet by officials.
The interstate reopened just before 9:30 a.m.
