Drivers came upon a slick and icy scene after a water main broke near North Academy and North Carefree Thursday morning.
Portions of North Academy were covered in ice just north of North Carefree.
The right and center lanes on northbound Academy north of Carefree were closed for about an hour, but have since been reopened. The city also sent a sand truck to the area.
The break was reportedly from a water line to the nearby Summer Grove Apartments. Water has been shut off. The complex says they have do not know when the water will be turned back on.
Maintenance crews for the apartment building are working on repairs.
