Multi-Vehicle Crash Closes I-25 Near Monument

One person was seriously hurt in a crash on southbound I-25 near the Baptist Road bridge Saturday evening, according to the Colorado State Patrol.

A four-door car smashed into the back of a semi-truck at about 5:25 p.m.

The initial crash caused a larger chain reaction crash involving up to 15 other vehicles. Some collided into each other, others slid off the highway trying to avoid the wreck.

Colorado State troopers at the scene told 11 News the crash is still under investigation. Southbound lanes reopened at about 7:15 p.m. Saturday.
