A motorcyclist was airlifted from a mountainous highway in Las Animas County Saturday morning after getting into an accident.
Colorado State Patrol says the 73-year-old rider was the only person involved in the crash, which happened just before 9 a.m. on Highway 12 near Monument Lake. The crash site is about 30 miles from Trinidad.
The rider was flown to Parkview Medical Center in Pueblo with life-threatening injuries. His identity has not been released.
Authorities are still trying to determine what caused the crash, but say it's unlikely drugs or alcohol played a role.
