Authorities have identified the victim in a fatal motorcycle crash Thursday morning on the west end of Colorado Springs.
State Patrol says 22-year-old Nicholas Uberecken was riding his motorcycle westbound on Highway 24 around 5:40 a.m. when a SUV turned onto 31st Street directly in front of him. Uberecken was thrown from his bike and died at the scene.
The driver of the SUV was wearing his seat belt and was uninjured. Our partners at The Gazette say he has not been ticketed for the crash.
The accident shut down traffic on the westbound side of the highway for hours. The crash was cleared at 8:30 a.m.
