Victims in Deadly Apartment Fire Identified

A deadly blaze broke out at an apartment west of the interstate in Pueblo early Christmas morning.

Sadly, the Pueblo Fire Department confirms a woman and her 3-year-old son were killed. The Pueblo County Coroner's Office has identified the mother as 25-year-old Natasha Fiore and her son is Elijah Pino.

"Everyone else [in the building] made it out," a spokesman with the fire department told 11 News, voice filled with emotion. He told 11 News the news of the two deaths was "tragic."

The fire started at 4:36 a.m. in a three-unit apartment complex on 319 E. Evans. The building was engulfed in flames when firefighters got on scene.

Firefighters got the fire contained just over an hour after arrival.

Firefighters rescued two others family members from inside the burning building, a grandmother and a 5-year-old boy. Both suffered serious injuries. The little boy was airlifted to a hospital in Colorado Springs, while his grandmother is in critical condition at a Pueblo hospital.

A firefighter also suffered injuries battling the fire, which required hospitalization.

All other residents in the building got out safely.

At this time, an exact cause is unknown, but authorities say they have ruled out arson as a possible cause. The incident is believed to possibly be drug-related.
