Ongoing work on I-25 at the north end of the Springs will impact traffic over the next couple of months.
Crews are trying to wrap up several projects ahead of the final road paving next month.
Starting Wednesday night, there will be double-lane closures on northbound I-25 at North Gate Boulevard. The closures will last until 5 a.m. Crews are removing and replacing the expansion joint on the northbound bridge. Over the last few days, crews have been doing short-term ramp and lane closures overnight to prepare for the replacement, but Wednesday they will be shutting down the northbound lanes entirely.
These closures will occur from 8:30 p.m.-5 a.m. through May 18. Then the work will switch to the southbound lanes.
There will also be periodic lane closures through Friday on both sides of I-25 between Woodmen and Monument for general highway maintenance. These lane closures will also begin at 8:30 p.m. and conclude at 5 in the morning.
Through Thursday, there will be daytime lane closures on North Gate Boulevard between the east and west roundabouts for light installation, extending from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Crews are also still working on adding the extra lane to the freeway between Colorado Springs and Monument, so delays will be a continued reality for the foreseeable future.
