Mom Gets Prison in Baby's Bathtub Death

DENVER (AP) -- A Denver woman whose baby died after she left him in a bathtub, allegedly while she checked Facebook in another room, has been sentenced to three years in prison.

Muriel Keer was sentenced Friday. A jury convicted her in June of child abuse resulting in the death of 10-month-old Aldrich Leathers.

Police say she had left him in a bathtub that was filling while she logged on to Facebook in September 2011.

Keer was in custody on a drug charge when her son was born in 2010. Records show he was placed in foster care but was returned to his mother, who was ordered to complete parenting classes and substance abuse treatment.

Aldrich's case was closed in June 2011, after caseworkers felt Keer successfully finished her treatment plan.
