A missing 16-year-old was held hostage for almost two days before escaping and asking a neighbor for help.

The neighbor spoke to sister station KCNC, but asked not to be identified.

After interviewing the victim, police arrested David Calderon, 38, of Johnstown.

Because of the charges against the suspect, KKTV is no longer using the girl's name or picture.

Family and friends of a missing Colorado teen grew frantic after the girl posted a distress message on Facebook urging her friends to call police.

Prior to being located Thursday, the girl was last seen at 8 p.m. Tuesday on the 100 block of South Hayes Avenue in Johnstown, which is located southeast of Loveland.

She was finally heard from 24 hours later, when she posted on Facebook that she was with a man named "Dave" and was scared.

According to sister station KCNC, Johnstown police received a call Thursday morning from a person stating that they knew "Dave." The girl was found a short time later, unharmed, at a home just a half-mile from police headquarters.

Police now believe Calderon abducted the teen and held her against her will.

According to the person who reportedly helped the teen, the suspect approached her as she stood in the Hays Market parking lot and asked for a lighter.

"She said she didn’t smoke and immediately after that he pulled her into his vehicle and drove her here,” the neighbor told KCNC.

Calderon allegedly alternated between threatening to kill the teen during the almost two days he held her, and giving her presents, including a cat, according to KCNC.

The neighbor said the girl snuck out of Calderon's home Thursday morning and knocked on the neighbor's door for help.

Calderon now faces six charges: second-degree kidnapping, false imprisonment, unlawful sexual contact, felony menacing, child abuse and assault in the third degree.
