A middle school girl says a man tried to lure her into his van while she stood at a bus stop on the northeast side of the Springs.
The incident happened on April 26, but parents were not notified until more than a week later.
District 20 says it's policy to let police release that information to parents.
The incident happened at Pine Manor Drive and Orchard Park Trail, near Powers and Union. The sixth grade victim says the ordeal was terrifying.
"I started to back up, and he came out of the van and then started to ask me if I wanted to see the dogs in the back...I started to run," she recalled.
Her friend informed the district about what happened three days later.
The suspect is described as a Hispanic man in his late 20s or early 30s. He reportedly has dark brown hair styled in a buzz cut. He's between 5-foot-7 and 5-foot-8, and has diagonal scar under his right eye. His vehicle is described as a full-sized white van with chipped paint. It doesn't have windows on the sides, but it does on the back.
If you have any information on this suspect, you are asked to contact Springs police immediately. That number is 444-7000.
