Memorial for Fallen Peace Officers

The thirty peace officers who have died in the line of duty in the Pikes Peak area since 1895 were honored in a special ceremony Friday morning.

During the service at Memorial Park in Colorado Springs, doves were released, as well as a balloon for each of those fallen officers, including the head of Colorado Prisons, Tom Clements, who was killed at his home last year.

The ceremony is usually at America the Beautiful Park, but was held at Memorial Park this year for the first time. It's the same location where the war veterans memorial stands.
