A family is remembering a teenager killed by another teen in a jealous rage.
On Monday afternoon a memorial was held for 18 year old Michael Fisher; he lost his life five years ago.
On November 5th, 2007 Michael Fisher and four other teens were driving down Murray Boulevard. Suddenly the teens were forced to pull over to the side of the road as an abusive ex-boyfriend was stalking one of the teens in the car. When the cars stopped, the ex-boyfriend shot Jeremy Vasquez in the head, killed the driver, Michael Fisher execution style, beat his girlfriend then turned the gun on himself.
“I got shot in the head and Michael Fisher died trying to save my life,” Jeremy Vasquez said.
On Monday, family and friends remembered Michael Fisher and described the teen as a good person. They released balloons in his honor.
“He was a really good person, good friend, I mean he would do anything for anyone and he would take the shirt off his back for the person that doesn't have one. He was that kind of person,” Vasquez said.
Another message Fisher’s mother and Vasquez want to pass along to young people is that violence is never the answer and should never be an option.
Family and friends tell 11 News they plan to continue to gather at Murray and Airport Road to honor Michael Fisher every November 5th.
