The Colorado Springs mayor is optimistic about job growth in the second half of 2013.
Mayor Steve Bach talked about the state of the city at a luncheon at the Broadmoor hotel Thursday afternoon. He said the Springs is on pace to have about 5,400 more civilian jobs by the end of the year.
"Our focus this next 12 months will continue to be the same. Jobs--which is critical for our community, transforming our city government and building community. It's that simple," Bach said.
Bach also addressed the Colorado Springs Airport's role in the city's economy, saying that it can be a powerful economic development tool that he's working to make better.
