A system producing heavy snow in the central mountains arrives in SE Colorado overnight Sunday into Monday bringing moisture, windy conditions and colder temperatures. Snow showers will be possible across the I-25 corridor to start the day. This system will produce bands of snow through the day Monday. Areas under these bands will see periods of heavy snowfall which, with windy conditions, could create travel difficulties. Manitou Avenue where it intersects with Canon Avenue on September 13, 2013. Authorities drove up and down the road urging residents to get to higher ground.
According to CDOT, Manitou Avenue reopened to traffic Monday night at the Highway 24 interchange at the east end of Manitou Springs.
In addition, the ramps from Highway 24 to Manitou Avenue are open.
CDOT says crews have completed clearing the Sutherland Creek culvert of debris. Crews continued to monitor the culvert overnight to ensure it remained free-flowing.
