Colorado Springs police say a man is undergoing psychological evaluation after trying to pull an officer out of his cruiser.

Mark Smith, 58, waved his arms to get the officer’s attention on the 3200 block of N. Chestnut St. When the officer stopped, the man opened the driver’s side door and tried to pull the officer from the vehicle. Next, Smith began jumping on the hood of the cruiser.

Smith was handcuffed, but police say he continued to struggle. He asked the officers to try arm wrestling him.

Eventually, Smith was restrained on a gurney so he could be taken to Penrose Main by ambulance.

He was served summonses for criminal mischief and obstructing a police officer.
