The search is on for a driver who intentionally dragged a man for nearly a block.
Early Saturday morning, a truck narrowly missed striking a man and his friend, who were walking on the street in Westminster, near Denver. The victim banged the truck on the tailgate as it drove past, to let the driver know how close he came to hitting them.
The truck drove out of sight, then turned around and came back to the pair. The driver grabbed 20-year-old Jordan Sweaney by his shirt and dragged him for almost a block.
Sweaney told Denver CBS affiliate KCNC that he remembers nothing after being grabbed by his jersey, but he was left hospitalized with a broken jaw and fractures to his skull. The driver fled the scene after the attack.
Westminster police say the truck is a silver or white newer model GMC, extended cab Z-71. Sweaney's friend, the only witness on scene who would talk to police, told officers the suspect is a white male with a Southern accent, probably in his mid-20s and just over 6 feet tall. He was reportedly wearing a blue baseball cap with a black and blue diamond design on the front.
Westminster police say several other people were on scene when the attack occurred, but unless they come forward, it's unlikely the driver will be caught. Police stress that all witnesses can remain anonymous if they contact Crime Stoppers. That number is 720-913-STOP.
