A man tried to abduct a 14-year-old girl Thursday afternoon in Woodland Park.

Police say the girl was walking on the sidewalk alongside West Kelly Road around 2:10 p.m. when an SUV pulled up alongside her and stopped.

The child says the driver opened the passenger side door and motioned for her to get inside. When the child grabbed her cellphone, the driver sped off.

The suspect is only described as a young male.

He was driving a black Toyota 4Runner, similar to the one in the picture.

The 4Runner had dark tinted windows and Colorado license plates that were either very dirty or covered.

Anyone who might have witnessed this incident or who knows anything about the suspect is asked to call either Detective Sergeant Tom Kinney or Detective Jennifer McCormack at the Woodland Park Police Department at 719-687-9262.
