Continuing to track rain/snow showers throughout southeast Colorado this morning as wet, gloomy and cool conditions continue. If you are hitting the roads in the higher elevation (Teller/Fremont/Custer/ Monument) make sure you allow a little extra time as some roads may be a little snow covered. One man is in critical condition after he was hit by a car. Officers say that man was traveling at a high rate of speed on a bicycle.
According to Colorado Springs Police, around 9:21 Monday night, an unidentified man was biking north on N. Meade Ave.
Officers say that man ignored a stop sign and tried to cross Palmer Park. An east bound vehicle narrowly missed the man. The bicyclist swerved to the east and was struck by a vehicle driving westbound.
The bicyclist is in critical condition. Police say he suffered head and internal injuries. The driver of the car was not hurt.
The investigation into the accident is underway and ongoing.
