Springs police are asking the public to keep an eye out for a man in a red 2-door Honda, who they believe was trying to lure children into his car.
Danny Ott tells 11 News he was washing his motorcycle in a neighborhood near Galley and Murray Sunday when he noticed a man trying to get two little boys to get into his car.
"The way he was talking to them was really convincing...'if you come with me, there's a reward.'"
When the man saw Ott standing there, he took off--only to reportedly come back later and try to lure little girls who were across the street.
Ott said he walked over to the kids and the man sped off.
According to Ott, the man tried to lure the girls with promises of McDonald's.
"He was very persuasive, especially with the McDonald's thing. I think that was his ploy: 'if you come get in my car, I'll take you to the McDonald's up there.'"
The children were fortunate that another adult witnessed the luring attempt and was able to stop it. But since grownups can't always be around the intervene, Kid Power, an organization that specializes in these types of situations, has the following advice:
-Tell the kids it's okay not to be polite.
-Yell, run away, and look for another adult
-Never go near the stranger
-Don't talk to them or take anything from them
-Just move away as quickly as possible.
Police say the suspect is a black man in his mid-30s. No other description has been made available at this time.
