Man Seriously Injured After Being Hit By Car

A pedestrian is battling life-threatening injuries after he was hit by a car late Monday night.

The crash happened at 10:49 p.m. on South Academy, just south of the intersection with El Morro Road in southeast Colorado Springs. Police say the pedestrian was wearing dark clothing and was crossing the street outside of a crosswalk when he was hit by a northbound vehicle. The driver who hit him reportedly stayed at the scene and cooperated with officers.

The pedestrian was transported to the hospital.

Northbound Academy was closed for more than three hours at Astrozon. All lanes were reopened at 2:20 a.m. Tuesday.
