He thought he would be buying a computer--but was nearly robbed instead.
Police believe the crooks used a Craigslist ad to lure the victim to a Springs apartment Sunday night, where the attempted robbery took place.
The victim showed up at the Vista Verde Apartments, near Academy and Fountain in Colorado Springs, just before 10 p.m. Sunday thinking he was meeting up with the seller of a computer that had been listed on Craigslist.
But when he got there, three armed men greeted him in the hallway and demanded money.
The victim was able to get away unharmed, and without being taken from him.
There is limited information on suspects. Police say the men were dressed in black clothing and had their faces covered by a mask. If you have any information that can help police, call 444-7000 or Crime Stoppers at 634-STOP.
The Colorado Springs Police Department advises the public to always respond to online ads in public places, where there will be plenty of witnesses.
