LONGMONT, Colo. (AP) -- Authorities say a Boulder County deputy shot and killed a man in his home near Longmont after he pulled a gun while two deputies were speaking with him.
According to the Longmont Times-Call, the man's mother called deputies on Sunday and said her son 44-year-old son locked himself in his room and refused to come out.
Cmdr. Heidi Prentup says two deputies arrived about 10 minutes later and went to speak with him. Prentup says when the man responded, he pulled a gun during the conversation and was shot twice by one of the deputies.
The man has not been identified.
