A man who shot and killed his pregnant wife will be in prison for the rest of his life.
Andre Jones shot and killed Lakeisha Jones in September 2013 at her home in the Summit Apartment Complex near Highway 115 and Lake in Colorado Springs.
Her grieving family was present in the courtroom Friday to hear Lakeisha's killer formally receive his life sentence. Andre was convicted of first-degree murder Tuesday, which automatically comes with a sentence of life in prison without parole.
A firefighter-paramedic found Lakeisha, and thinking the shooter was still inside the apartment, pulled her to a safe location while trying to save her life. She was rushed to the hospital but did not survive.
Lakeisha was 30 weeks pregnant at the time. Doctors were able to deliver her baby girl, who lived.
For his crimes against his unborn child, Andre was also handed additional decades in prison on top of his life sentence.
Court papers say Andre threatened to kill Lakeisha, one of her co-workers and her unborn child after he found out the baby wasn't his. The couple was in the middle of a divorce at the time of the shooting.
The couple had three other children together, who were not at home when their mother was shot.
The jury convicted Jones of all charges, including: first-degree murder-felony murder, unlawful termination of a pregnancy, child abuse causing serious bodily injury, and second-degree burglary.
