Authorities say a paternity test reveals a 49-year-old man impregnated a 16-year-old girl.
Danny Manzanares was arrested Thursday in Alamosa.
According to the Conejos County Sheriff's Office, the county Department of Social Services notified deputies in September of last year that Manzanares was engaging in "inappropriate behavior" with the girl. During the investigation, the teenager gave birth.
The sheriff's office says a paternity test showed 99.99 percent certainty that Manzanares was the father of the infant.
Manzanares is now being held at the Conejos County Jail on a $40,000 bond, which he is expected to post. He faces charges of sexual assault on a child by one in a position of trust, along with other charges.
