A frequent site for accidents was once again the scene of a crash Wednesday night.
Authorities say a man lost control of his van while driving southbound on I-25 and crashed into a guardrail. He was ejected in the collision and died at the scene.
Police identified the victim Thursday afternoon as 25-year-old Nicholas Garcia. His name had previously been withheld while his family was notified.
The accident happened about 8:30 p.m. near the Cimarron exit, along a distinct curve in the roadway that has been the site of many crashes--including one Tuesday that shut down the interstate for six hours.
Springs police were on scene for more than two hours investigating. At this time, they have not determined a cause.
A second crash occurred in the same area on the opposite side of the interstate after a tire from the initial crash rolled into a northbound lane. That crash was removed within an hour. No serious injuries were reported in that crash.
