The county coroner has identified a 20-year-old man who drowned in a pond in Fremont County Monday afternoon.
The victim has been identified as Erik Joseph Tingey. The Fremont County Sheriff's Office says Tingey is from Florence. He was at the Blue Heron ponds on the east side of Highway 115 and north of the Arkansas River. He was swimming with friends when he got tangled up in thick weeds and disappeared below the surface of the water.
His friends tried to rescue him but couldn't find him.
The Pueblo County Sheriff's Office Dive Team found him about an hour later in about 6 feet of water.
There is no indication of foul play or alcohol use.
Friends of the victim say Tingey was a student at Colorado State University-Pueblo, and was a great person.
