A man and his dog were forced out of their home early Sunday morning after a fire destroyed the trailer.

Almost two dozen firefighters responded to the Northwoods Village RV Park on Wood Avenue in Colorado Springs after the fire was reported at 4 a.m. The trailer was engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived. The homeowner and dog were able to escape without injury.

The fire was out within 20 minutes, but the trailer was not salvageable.

The Pikes Peak Red Cross says they have assisted the owner with food, clothing and help in finding a place to stay.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
