Light to moderate snow showers continue this Wednesday morning with cold temperatures to start the day. Roads are *very* icy and snow packed throughout southeast Colorado... so please allow extra time for the morning drive. Throughout the midday and afternoon, we'll keep the chance of some light, fine snow showers, but expecting minor accumulations through the day. The driver of an ATV was killed when he collided head-on with a FedEx truck on a blind curve.
The accident happened on private property Friday at approximately 4p.m. about 20 miles northwest of Canon City.
State Patrol says the FedEx truck was going about 10 miles and hour down a hill and around a blind curve. At the same time, the ATV was apparently going up the same hill and around the curve at a speed of 30 to 40 mph.
William Russell, 63, was driving the ATV and was not wearing a helmet, according to State Patrol. He was rushed to the hospital, where he died of his injuries.
The passenger of the ATV is identified as Adam Russell, 38. He also was not wearing a helmet, according to State Patrol, and suffered "moderate" injuries.
The driver of the truck, 59-year-old William Bruner, was not seriously hurt.
No charges have been filed so far in the accident, which is still under investigation.
