The man convicted of killing a homeless man in Colorado Springs last year will spend the next 27 years in prison.

James Bratt pleaded guilty to the murder.

It happened last June near St. Elmo and Mount Washington on the southwest part of the Springs.

Court documents show Bratt stabbed the victim 12 times, then tried to hide the knife under cement at his house.

Those documents also indicate that it was Bratt's wife who provided police with crucial information that led to his arrest. Read more about the crime and Bratt's arrest here.
