Colorado Springs police have identified the man they suspect of sexually assaulting a good Samaritan.

Police say the suspect told the male victim that he was out of gas and needed help. When the victim gave him a ride, police say the suspect forced him to drive several miles, then sexually assaulted him.

Springs police named 38-year-old Justin Jay Hatfield as the suspect. He's also known as "J.J." He's a white man, 5 feet, 10 inches tall and 200 pounds. He has green eyes and brown hair. He may have a goatee. Police do not know his address. They say he should be considered armed and dangerous.

Investigators are looking for a kidnapper who they say sexually assaulted his victim. The victim in this case is another man.

Police said the two didn't know each other.

Monday night, a driver picked up a man who said he was out of gas and needed a ride. The victim in this case was just trying to help out a stranger. Police said that when the two were near Garden of the Gods and 30th Street, the suspect threatened the driver's life.

The suspect allegedly forced the victim to drive to Gold Camp Road on the west side of Colorado Springs. That's where the sexual assault happened.

Several hours later, investigators said they ended up at the King Soopers near Fillmore and Centennial, and the victim somehow managed to get away. We talked to shoppers in the area.

“Just makes you shake your head. This guy was going to do something nice for this guy, be a good Samaritan, and he ends up having the worst night of his life. Obviously he got free and hopefully he’ll be OK, but as a father of two, it just makes you think twice,” Patrick Horsman said.

“I think you'd have to put a little extra precaution in it, but I don't think you should let one person to turn you from helping others because there are others that need help,” Chris Fisher said.

Police say this isn't something they see very often, a man sexually assaulting another man.

The suspect is described as a Hispanic man about 5-foot-11 with a heavy build. He's between 35 and 40 years old.

The suspect was last seen at the King Soopers. Investigators believe he took off running.
