Police say a man who caused a disturbance at a Starbucks left the store and sat down in the middle of traffic.
Just after 5 p.m. on Tuesday, police were called to the intersection of South Academy Boulevard and Hancock Expressway in Colorado Springs.
Police say 36-year-old Ben Gonzalez was blocking cars at a nearby Starbucks drive-thru. He then ran south into the middle of the intersection and sat down. 11 News talked with the man who captured it all on cell phone video.
“I was coming up on Hancock and Academy and the guy was sitting down in the road. He got up and started flicking people off and blocking traffic...everyone was telling him to get out of the road,” Shawn Keene explained.
Officers yelled for Gonzalez to surrender, but he would not follow their directions. They shot him with a hard rubber bullet in the leg and took him in custody.
Police suspect he may have been on some type of drug. Gonzalez is facing several charges including resisting arrest, obstruction and disorderly conduct.
