Multiple units were sent to a house Saturday morning after an officer responding to a domestic call saw blood outside the home.

The first officer had been called to a home at 10:30 a.m. on the 4200 block of Forrest Hill Road, near Garden of the Gods and Centennial in Colorado Springs, after a woman reported that her boyfriend had punched her. When he arrived at the home, he heard loud shouting coming from inside, which stopped after he knocked. Additional units were called after the officer saw blood outside.

Police say they made multiple announcements for the occupants to exit the home with no response. Just before they executed an emergency entry plan, the door opened. Police say they found the victim with injuries consistent with an assault, as well as two small children inside. The suspect, identified as 28-year-old Jeramine Simpson, was arrested for third-degree assault and child abuse.
