A man is accused of verbally abusing and punching two women, because he didn't like their sexual orientation.

Colorado Springs police say 34-year-old Rick Martinez II was at Kelly O'Brian's bar on Academy Blvd. just south of Platte when he verbally abused the two women because of their sexual orientation. They say he then punched both of the women, while he continued to make similar comments.

A staff member at the bar reportedly tried to intervene, and was also punched by the suspect.

Police say Martinez took off before they arrived, but he was located and taken into custody without further incident.

He faces felony charges of bias-motivated crimes.

Police say all the victims sustained minor injuries, and were treated and released by medical staff at the scene.

The incident happened at 1:51 a.m. July 27.
