A seemingly typical school assembly Thursday morning held an enormous surprise for students at James Monroe Elementary School.
After listening to a performance by their school orchestra, 28 brand new instruments were unveiled to more than 175 third, fourth and fifth graders. The instruments, worth more than $24,000, were donated by Fidelity Investments Colorado Springs Investor Center through The Mr. Holland’s Opus Foundation.
According to a release from Monroe Elementary, Fidelity’s donation is part of their effort to support public school music programs.
