Colorado Springs police are investigating a second robbery in a week at the Academy Bank off Briargate Boulevard and Union.

It happened around 2:30 Monday.

Police say the same man has robbed the bank 4 times in the last two-and-a-half months, and confirmed to 11 News Tuesday they suspect the man has robbed the Peoples National Bank in Monument twice in 2013. Those crimes occurred in May and July.

Police tell us the Academy Bank was robbed most recently on July 30th. Investigators say it is the fifth robbery at that location since the beginning of 2013.

Surveillance pictures begin to show some similarities between a man suspected of robbing banks in Monument and Colorado Springs.

Investigators are also looking at his method. In some cases he's passed a note to the teller demanding cash. He's never showed a weapon. Although no one's been hurt in the robberies investigators say they are serious crimes and the suspect, potentially dangerous.

"We never doubt for a minute that there's always the possibility that a person could be armed,” said Lt. Jeff Kramer. “No one knows it or the fact their activities in the future that they may escalate in their behavior in their propensity for violence."

Investigators from both the El Paso County Sheriff's Office and police CSPD are putting their heads together, trying to fill in some gaps about the suspect. Kramer said good information from anyone who saw something important, or may know who this suspect is can be essential to his capture.

The suspect is a white man bewteen 6' 0" and 6' 5" with a thin build. Anyone with information about him is asked to call police or CrimeStoppers at 634-STOP.
