Lightning started two house fires in El Paso County Wednesday.

The first happened on Candleflower Circle near Austin Bluffs and Research Parkway in Colorado Springs. Firefighters say at 3:15 p.m., lightning hit the house, starting a fire in the attic. A small hole could be seen in the roof of the home with smoke and a small flame coming out of it. There's no word on what further damage the lightning strike caused to the home.

A house sitter was there when the lightning hit the house, but was able to get out safely.

A second fire started after lightning hit a home in Calhan Wednesday night. Authorities have not released much information, but do say that the family got out safely.
