Snow is expected to develop for our Monday afternoon and overnight hours. Bands of heavier snow are possible..and something we will be monitoring throughout the day today. A Winter Storm Watch has been issued for far northern El Paso County where ~4" are possible by Tuesday morning. Also ahead, a High Wind Watch for much of southeast Colorado from 4-11am Tuesday morning as wind gusts could reach up to 60 mph. Firefighters are investigating a rash of fires that destroyed cars and structures around Lakewood early Tuesday.
The fires all happened in the area near Alameda Avenue and Garrison Street, just south of Colorado Christian University. Two fires involved structures, including a house. Two other fires involved cars.
Authorities believe all of these fires were set by an arsonist.
KKTV's sister station in Denver took this picture of a carport fire in the 300 block of South Estes. At least nine cars are believed to have burned in this incident.
A large smoke cloud could be seen over the neighborhood Tuesday morning as firefighters worked to get the situation under control.
Lakewood police are now looking for the person or persons responsible.
