A car full of juveniles were contacted by police around midnight Sunday after a Fountain officer saw one of the occupants drop a beer bottle onto the ground.
The officer placed the four juveniles in custody after spotting marijuana, a weapon and more bottles of alcoholic beverages. The group was hanging out near the Jack in a Box on 6314 S. Highway 85.
During the investigation, police say one of the passengers had tried concealing a handgun after the officer approached the car. A background check revealed he was a convicted felon.
The suspect now faces several new charges, including: possession of a weapon by a previous offender, prohibited use of a weapon, possession of handguns by juveniles, possession of a defaced firearm, and illegal possession or consumption of ethyl alcohol by an underage person. He was placed in custody at the Spring Creek Juvenile Detention Center.
