Investigators hope a large crater left from the explosion at a Texas fertilizer plant holds clues about what what set off a massive explosion last week.

The blast leveled a sizable portion of the surrounding town, killing at least 14 and injuring more than 200. A majority of those killed were firefighters and emergency workers, who had responded to a fire at the West Fertilizer Company when the blast went off.

The blast was so powerful, it registered as a 2.1-magnitude earthquake. People in communities more than 40 miles away could feel the blast.

Questions remain whether or not the fertilizer plant ignored safety regulations. There are allegations that the plant may have been storing dangerous amounts of ammonium nitrate.

Investigators are headed into the crater Monday.
