The Colorado Department of Corrections released information today confirming the death of an inmate at one of its facilities.
A male inmate worker at the East Canon Complex DOC Fleet Service Station has died.
The incident occurred this morning, Monday, March 11, at approximately 7:30 a.m. The inmate was working on a hydraulic dump truck.
The death is under investigation at this time by the Department of Corrections Office of Inspector General. The name of the offender will not be released until his family has been notified.
The Fleet Service Station is operated by Colorado Correctional Industries. The shop provides preventative maintenance and repair services to DOC state vehicles. The Service Station employs five Correctional Industries staff and 10-15 trained inmate workers.
