Immigrants living illegally in Colorado will now be able to get a driver's license.
Governor Hickenlooper signed the measure into law today.
Supporters of the bill argued everyone on the roads should know the rules and be insured.
The licenses will be labeled to say that they are not valid for federal identification and can't be used to vote or to get public benefits.
Opponents argued there's no way to verify the identities of immigrants with certainty.
